Kelly's Kids Continues to Touch Lives in Africa.

For two years, Kelly's Kids has worked with the Daughters of Charity to support families, and in particular, young children living in Kenya and Ethiopia. In January and March 2008, Kelly's Kids donated 28,000 pieces of clothing and 133 pairs of shoes to support the ministry of the Daughters of Charity, particularly to children living through the unrest in Kenya. Sr. Mary Beth Kubera, a Daughter of Charity working at their headquarters in Evansville, Indiana, sent Kelly's Kids the following note of appreciation.

Gypsy Children in Rome, Italy Enjoy their New Clothes from Kelly's Kids.

On a recent trip to Italy, Kelly's Kids general manager Ashton James brought a donation of Kelly's Kids clothing to the Comunit` di Sant'Egidio (www.santegidio.org).  The Community of St. Egidio is a lay community which began in Rome 40 years ago.  The young adults who formed the movement focused their attention on daily prayer and service to the poor.  Today the community is in almost 50 countries of the world and they number close to 50,000 members.  It is composed mostly of lay people and is a sign that Christianity is alive and well.

A woman named Lucia, a member of the Comunit` di Sant'Egidio brought the clothes to a Gypsy camp in the eastern part of Rome. The pictures are of the children and grandchildren of Mira, a woman who has 13 grandchildren in all. The rest of the clothes were given to other children and families in the same camp.

Lucia explained that the gift made the children very happy and proud of their new clothing! She said that the new clothes allowed them to feel at ease among other children in school.

Orphanages in Peru Receive Gifts from Kelly's Kids.

In July 2007, a mission team from Natchez, MS - representing the Natchez Children's Home - traveled to Peru to visit and minister to children in several Peruvian orphanages: Home of the Ancients, Huaycan, San Ramon, Chilca, Agape and Elin. Kelly's Kids donated clothes to the orphanages to clothe hundreds of children who had been removed from abusive homes or were living on the streets. The children - many of whom had very few pieces of clothing of their own - were very excited and appreciative to receive new outfits...you can see it in their smiles!

Kelly's Kids Clothes Make Their Way to the Children of Africa.

We are proud to share with you exciting and rewarding news from the home office! After a donation of clothes, we received these hearting-warming photos and a humbling letter from a friend of Kelly's Kids, Sister Mary Bether Kubera, a Sister of the Daughters of Charity. She wrote the following:

How can I ever thank you enough for the thousands of pieces of clothing you have sent for the children of Kenya and Ethiopia! You will never know how much it means to these children to have ONE or TWO pieces of new clothing. You can tell by these pictures how very pleased the children are and how grateful we, the Daughters of Charity, are, too!
